Two shims stacked equals 1/4 inch per side, so a total reduction on pocket width of 1/2 inch between the two shims per corner and side. The shimmed area if shimmed too large will cause balls to react funny when contacting the over shimmed area. If you are going to double shim, first glue the shims together in groups of two before installing the shims.
After shims are installed, use a razor/knife to cut shims to appropiate height and contour to the table rubber. We use contact cement to glue shims on and have had great luck with dap brand contact cement. A pint should be more than enough to install the rail rubber and the pocket cushion facing shims.
