ANTIQUE THURSTON & CO MINIATURE SNOOKER, BILLIARD TABLE. Circa early 1900s With Nice original Thurston name plaque on D end cushion. Possible salesmanship table for customers. Table is 31.5 inches Long and 17 inch wide. Hand Carved Solid wooden frame-work in Black, which has 2 built in silver spirit levels to side of cushions and 2 scoreboards. Comes with original balls/Billiard balls, 2 cues. Fitted scoreboards and the. Original pockets and string nets. This table is in near original condition and is in excellent vintage order as nearly 110 years old. Only some minor wear to baize and a small area of wear on the bulk end cushion see picture. Sits on four wooden legs which have a very simple carved levelling piece at the ends of each leg to level the table for playing. An excellent investment as scarce. Some Early History Details. The Thurston furniture business started in 1799 in premises in Newcastle Street in the Strand. However Business for billiards tables in the early 1820s were now taking over their productions, so the company moved to 16 Catherine Street, The Strand and with their’ Manufacturing’ at the Waterloo Billiard Works, Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, London.
