8.5′ Antique August Jungblut Pool Table. Born in Germany in 1843, August Jungblut came to America as a young man. He moved to San Francisco in 1870 and opened his billiard shop a year or two later. His first listing on page 60 of the 1872 Langley Directory shows a partner, John Renner. They are listed as Renner andJungblut Billiard Table and Cabinet Makers at 10 Tyler Street. This address along with numbers 12, 14 and 16 Tyler Street would remain as the offices and manufacturing plant till the 1906 Earth Quake and Fire of 1906. The number 12 address was added in 1875 and the street name Tyler, was changed to Golden Gate Avenue in 1880, although Jungblut continued to use old invoice listing Tyler instead of Golden Gate Avenue for several years. This area was destroyed by the 1906 Fire. During this early period August lived on Jessie Street between 4. Streets and after 1880 at 114 Jones Street. Jungblut and Company competed very well against rivals Jacob Strahle, Philip Liesenfeld , John Drouilhat and of course Brunswick and Balke. Trausen joined August sometime in the 1880s and August son Otto A. Is listed as the bookkeeper in1890.
