It will not always represent the tables in stock or the specific details regarding each individual table. In this era of severe and critical taste in house decoration, many turn from the very ornamental to the plainer styles of furniture. To meet this demand we have produced the New Narragansett. The table finds great favor with people whose ideas of correct taste are considered standard. It was this design of table manufactured by us that received the award of first medal for excellence at the Paris Exposition of 1878, when in competition with like goods from all parts of the world. While nothing of a florid character has been attempted in this design, still the table is one which has an inherent beauty peculiar to its own individuality. The clear polished woodwork at the sides and the head and foot of the table is tastefully relieved by vertical moldings at each head block. This is an original Brunswick Balke Collender 9-foot pool table. I believe it is the Narragansett which was made between 1890 and 1910. The outer edges of the table are 9′ 2 x 5′. The base is oak and the rails are rosewood with mother-of-pearl inlay. The wood has been professionally refinished. All parts are original including leather pockets, decal, and rail bolt covers. This pool table has no felt on the slate or the bumpers. It will also need new bumpers. The first photo here is of this pool table in another background. Antique Brunswick 9 Narragansett Pool Table. Wood is quarter sawed oak in flakeveneer. All trim and molding is solidoak wood. The diamond shape sights ontops of each rail are ivory. This 1890’s regulations sized 4 1/2′ x 9′ Brunswick Narragansett Pool Table has been in my family since the 1950s after my grandfather bought if from an old firehouse in the Camden, NJ area. After my dad inherited it from my grandfather in the early 80’s, he had it restored by Lanza Billards in the southern NJ / Camden County, which is where the table is currently located. The table comes with everything you see in the pictures. The pool sticks and playing balls aren’t antiques, but I do have an older partial set of balls, bridge and some other accessories. The table is pretty much ready, except it could use new felt and probably new bumpers. Some of the pool sticks could use new cues as well. The table doesn’t get used much anymore and needs to find a new home, so it is priced to sell! The table has always been stored with a pool table cover when not in use, so it is in excellent condition! I believe the slate comes apart in three pieces, which makes it easier to move. Up for sale is a Brunswick Narragansett Pool Table. It is in good structural shape but should ideally be refinished. It has been in my family since the 1940s and was probably made in the late 1800s or early 1900s. The felt and pockets were redone. Let me know if you have any questions.
