Estimated life on this new rail rubber is 25-35 years. They’re full-gum, a-grade cushion quality; not like extruded rubber which has fillers added. This rubber is as good as it gets and we sell it for a fraction of what many manufactures sell it for. K55 profile is used on most slate pool tables on the market like: brunswick, diamond and most olio tables and many others. The correct profile for cl bailey, fischer, connely or olhausen tables, these use k-66 rail rubber profile. This is a general rule, please check with your pool table manufacture and or google to find out what profile type rubber your table uses, this is a guideline above and general statement. Measures 1-1/4″ x 1-5/16″. Check measurements to order correct size. Color of the rail rubber may vary but will be k55 profile! You get 6 pieces, enough to redo one 8′ table. The rail liner angle where the k55 rubber will be glued to is generally around 27.0 degrees for normal rail height with a 1.5 inch total height rail. Nose tip of rubber (where the ball strikes the rubber) should be within an acceptable height range above the playing surface of 1-13/32 to 1-19/32 inches. When we do new rubber installation here in our shop, we gauge the height above the playing surface to be 1.5 inches (1 and 16/32 inches) which is optimal for correct rebound angles. The lower the nose height of the rail rubber, the hotter (faster) the rail becomes and the rails also bank short (tight) when the nose height is dropped. The race is on in recent years among many manufactures to make a faster rail and they have achieved this by lowering the nose height of the rail down which is wrong. This not only produces a rail that banks tight (short), but it also creates a rail that will often produce a faster ball out speed then when the ball comes into the cushion. When the rail becomes very close to the lower height range and lower than the 1 and 13/32 inches the ball will also have a tendanacy to loft (come off the slate momentarily) when it comes off the rail which is a super nuissance. Ideally the ball should come off the rail at the same speed the ball comes into the rail and the ball should also come out at the same angle it goes in! If you can adjust your rail liner so that your cushion height is correct, around 1.5 inches above the playing surface, it is our opinion that the table will play optimally. We define optimal playability when the ball speed out is same as ball speed in and the rebound angle out is the same as coming in. This of course assumes that there is no excessive speed or english when the ball is contacting the cushion. Cl bailey, fisher and brunswick tables have always done the rail height correctly over the years and have left the nose height the same at 1.5 inches above the playing surface. Are m-f 9:30 a.
