Vintage Brunswick Billiards Mid Century Modern Centennial Pool Table 8
Another fabulous mid century modern Brunswick Centennial pool table for your consideration. This is an 8 footer that I just acquired and it is currently getting the aluminum polished to a shiny lustre at a plating company here in Minnesota. 8 footers are hard to find because this model was made for pool halls and private clubs in the 1940’s and 50’s and they were mostly 9 footers. Value is about the same but most home tables are 8 foot size for space consideration and also because they are more user friendly. The metal parts are aluminum and the factory put a protective coat of material on the surface to prevent corrosion. Restoration involves removing that anidization and buffing out the metal on high speed buffing machines to get a polished look that does not ever dull. The wood parts of these popular models are real rosewood. Some later models were produced with formica laminate to simulate rosewood. This is real rosewood from the rain forests of South America. The bases that hold the frame and slates are also rosewood veneer. Slate is 3 pieces 1 thick with wood backing. Pockets are exact replicas of the original hard rubber inserts. New rubber cushions and the color cloth of your choice completes the restoration. Interior designers are always on the lookout for this model and the sister Art Deco model, the Anniversary, for clients looking for the mid century model decor. I have some of those, as well. This is what to expect the table to look like set up in your home. Brought one to Miami just a year ago and I’m a little worried about it as hurricane Irma takes a bead on Florida.
