Antique Pool Table (9 foot, Schwikert & Sons, 1890s, with original accessories). This table was originally installed (likely in the last decade of the 1800s) at a resort in Sodus Point, NY. Since then, it has been exceptionally maintained. The table has a slate surface in 3 pieces. Considering the time since it was refelted, the felt is in excellent condition (suggesting the table was treated very well), but the felt does need to be replaced after about 35 years of use. The rails are lively and the table surface is remarkably true. The thick leather net drop pockets are still in great condition. The table has original hooks for a bridge on each side of the table and it has original small iron chalk holders mounted under the head and foot rails (see photo). Accessories include: original wall rack for cues, original ball rack, original scoring beads, 2 original ceiling-mounted retractable chalk holders, 2 original bridges, old (maybe original) pill bottle, newer 8-ball rack, newer 9-ball rack, set of older 1 & 2-piece cues, newer felt brush and 2 sets of balls (1 very old). Your chance to own Brunswick, Balke & Collender’s most famous antique billiard table, a fully restored 9′ Monarch. The 1890’s era table was beautifully restored and its famous cast iron lion legs masterfully painted in black with gold accents. The table includes an appraisal by Joe Newell, the official Burnswick historian, done in 2015. All major frame pieces have matching BBC serial numbers, with a flawless restoration of the inlaid wood cabinet. As with most complete antique billiard restorations, some parts have been replaced. The replaced pieces are likely the bottom skirt finials, the bolt covers, and the name plate. The rail tops are also likely replacements or salvaged from another antique table, as they are simply too smooth and flawless for the age of the table. However, the underside of the rails all have the matching BBC serial numbers. Accurate reproductions of the bolt covers and name plate are easily available should you desire to replace them, although the ones on the table are consistent with a Victorian style table. The felt is a heavy, high quality green in excellent condition, although most choose to replace the cloth in a move because of the difficulty in preserving the cloth during disassembly. The inlays contain the exotic woods Monarchs and other fine Victorian tables are known for. Pocket irons are antique type, replated on the ends, with a high quality leather covering in the pocket seat. The table plays very well, with a deliberate, controlled feel appropriate to its quality, size, and era. The cushions are in excellent shape. The famous leveling system on a Monarch ensures a level table when properly installed. This 1890’s regulations sized 4 1/2′ x 9′ Brunswick Narragansett Pool Table has been in my family since the 1950s after my grandfather bought if from an old firehouse in the Camden, NJ area. After my dad inherited it from my grandfather in the early 80’s, he had it restored by Lanza Billards in the southern NJ / Camden County, which is where the table is currently located. The table comes with everything you see in the pictures. The pool sticks and playing balls aren’t antiques, but I do have an older partial set of balls, bridge and some other accessories. The table is pretty much ready, except it could use new felt and probably new bumpers. Some of the pool sticks could use new cues as well. The table doesn’t get used much anymore and needs to find a new home, so it is priced to sell! The table has always been stored with a pool table cover when not in use, so it is in excellent condition! I believe the slate comes apart in three pieces, which makes it easier to move. Antique full size 9 foot overall length Brunswick Balke Collender pool table. I believe this a Wellington model from late 1800’s. It had been in an underground Portland Oregon speakeasy originally in old Chinatown and I bought it from a local politician/lawyer friend of family. Always kept in controlled environment. May be worth more now. I simply need the room within the coming year for a mother in law “apartment”. I was told the wood is a very dense Live Oak harvested from eastern seaboard. It has a beautiful patina and in very nice shape. Monarch rails in great shape. Newer Belgiun worsted wool, 1 inch slate is excellent, level. Comes with a handsome custom made cover and several higher end USA made pool cues, as well as rack, balls. I do have the special 1800’s factory Brunswick wrench to dismatle the specialized bolts that goes with it. Takes a couple hours and I found it pretty simple to disassemble.
